8 Moldavian companies and one Ukrainian company participated in the MOLDENERGY exhibition due to the financial support offered by the project “Increasing energy efficiency of Chisinau and Sevastopol municipalities based on existing positive experience”. The project is managed by the City Hall of Chisinau Municipality, in partnership with IDIS “Viitorul” (Moldova), Sevastopol municipality (Ukraine), Union of Municipalities of the Marmara Region and University of Marmara (Turkey), ICLEI European Secretariat GmbH (Germany), with the financial support of the European Commission granted through the CIUDAD programme (Cooperation in Urban Development and Dialogue).

The International Specialized Exhibition of energetic, power-saving technologies, gas-supply, heating and air conditioning systems – MOLDENERGY is being held in Chisinau over the period of March 14-17, 2012. On March 15, 2012, the Institute of Power Engineering will organize a round table on “Efficient energy systems for small capacity consumers”, also with the support of the CIUDAD project. The event is included in the exhibition programme and will be held in the conference room of the central pavilion of Moldexpo.

On the whole, 10.000 euro was earmarked from the account of the CIUDAD project managed by the Chisinau City Hall to cover the participation fee and rental of the exhibition booth for 9 companies:

  1. EcoEuro Proiect
  3. CORNA
  4. SRL Iluminaţie
  5. Modern Term
  6. SRL AlternativEnerg
  7. SC Vipropat SRL
  8. Institute of Power Engineering
  9. AMKORTEK Ukraina

The companies were selected by an independent board as result of a public competition announced on January 25, 2012. The board took into account the relevance of the field of activity with the subject of the exhibition and of the project.

“This is for the first time when we have the opportunity to present our products at such a wide scope event. We come with an innovative technology, namely the heat pumps that are energy efficient and require lower maintenance costs for houses and enterprises. During this exhibition we hope to establish contacts with potential customers, both domestic consumers and businesses”, says the administrator of the Modern Term Company, Iurie Tidva.

“By supporting these companies to take part in the exhibition, we aim to better inform the businesses and ordinary citizens about the energy saving equipment and technologies. We have also provided the opportunity to present its products to a Ukrainian company, especially in order to offer more chances for development of the market of energy efficiency technologies”, says Daniela Franţujan, project manager of the “Increasing energy efficiency of Chisinau and Sevastopol municipalities based on existing positive experience”.

“We decided to participate in this exhibition in order to become acquainted with the opportunities available on the Moldovan market and with the possibility to open here a branch of our company. We wish to test the interest of people in the technologies that we are presenting”, says Aleksandr Ţabiev, representative of the AMKARTERK company that imports solar panels and solar collectors from Israel.

The MOLDENERGY exhibition reached its 16th edition. In 2011, the exhibition was attended by 50 companies whose stands were visited by over 10.000 persons, more than half of which coming from abroad. 9 out of 10 visitors were experts in the field.

The CIUDAD project of the Chisinau City Hall also includes other activities to promote economic energy consumption. Hence, in September 2011, there was published a print run of 1000 copies, in Romanian and Russian, of the Energy Efficiency Guide that contains useful energy saving tips. The promotional material is entitled “Use Eco-Logically”.

The same slogan, “Use Eco-Logically”, will be imprinted on posters that are to be placed in trolleybuses from Chisinau aimed to urge the inhabitants of the capital to join the Earth Hour campaign. Hence, on March 31, at 8.30pm, millions of people will switch off their lights for one hour. The action is meant to draw the attention to energy waste.
